"How's our guy?"
She jumped up and ran to meet me at the door. "We have a surprise for you!!"
I stared at her for a minute and then burst into laughter.
Her lips were blue. Cobalt blue. And there were blue smudges on her cheeks. Oh golly, I hope that stuff doesn't stain. ;-)
She led me into the room towards Big Kid.
"Hi Mom!" he croaked. And smiled a huge blue Smurfy smile.
Better yet, he is off the vent and breathing on his own. They're going to keep the trach in for a few more days, but he's breathing completely on his own with oxygen from a nose hose.

I'll fill in the details tomorrow, but he wanted me to thank all of you so much for all the concern and prayers you have sent to him for his recovery.

Thank you God!! It's beyond fantastic that he made such leaps and bounds in his recovery. What a wonderful surprise for you, getting a 'hey Mom!' when you walk in the door. So wonderful!

Delight and relief and joy and prayers answered...and blue is a wonderful colour to see when it’s part and parcel of such a smile! :)
Thank you soo much for showing us Big Kid. He looks marvelous. His cheeks are pink and I think I can see his blue lips. He is a miracle and now you can have a Happy Thanksgiving all together.

Hubby and I checked in every day to see the updates but rarely left comments, just sending love and concern through the universe to you and your son. This is such good news and he looks great in the photo. Hugs to you both.

Wow, I didn't realize I was rooting for such a handsome young man. Though there's work to be done, it looks like Big Kid is back! Attila, You've done well, as have Dad and LK.
