Well the last couple of weeks have been truly scary.
We've been on stand-by evacuation until a few days ago because of the Waldo
Canyon fire, which has been the worst in Colorado history. Many of our most
prized possessions have been packed up and ready to go. The fire is now 80%
contained and burning away from our town. Two families we know lost
everything.
Big Kid and Kitty made it up the highway 15 minutes before they closed it. The smoke down in the springs made it almost impossible for him to breathe. The Aspiring Adult's new place was in the evacuation zone, so he came home too and I had all my ducklings under one roof.
The big piles of boxes (pictures, papers, family heirlooms, etc) sits in
our dining room, waiting to be unpacked. And I'm afraid to unpack them.
Why?
Because we've got a firebug up here in our little mountain community. 21
fires, many deliberately set (they were put out before all the evidence was
destroyed) in 8 days, not including the Waldo Canyon fire. If that was caused by arson,
then it makes 22.
It almost feels like we've been under siege. I've been in to town shopping
and chatted with others in the community. A lot of people feel
shell-shocked.
Blessings to the firefighters and law enforcement who've been working
overtime in these dangerous conditions to keep us safe.
Hope you all have a happy 4th! No fireworks for us, we've had enough!
xoxo

OMGosh Attila. I am sooooo very sorry. What a scary thing to go through. Thank god you and your babes are all safe and prayers to those who lost their homes.
The idea that this fire, which has been well reported in Los Angeles could be set by an arsonist is sickening.
Sending big prayers your way. Stay safe.

Been thinking about you and hoping you and your family were safe. Glad to hear you are hanging in there.
I hope that they get enough evidence to catch the culprit/s who have waged this war on Colorado. Not that I am big on vengeance, it's just that he or they must be stopped. I'm glad your kids, both big and aspiring, are home and safe with you.
Wow ! I have been viewing the destruction on the news, without realizing you were impacted by it. What a way to live. I hope it is resolved soon , and that they get those responsible. Stay safe.
Man made fires I just don't understand why someone would do such a thing...I hope they catch the rat bastard! Stay safe!
How terrifying for you!
I heard rumor that this is not nature's course...praying that they can cease the firebug and keep everyone safe.
My biological family lives in the springs so I've been living this from afar. Scary stuff for sure. Can't even fathom what goes through an arsonists head. Sick shit for sure. Stay safe and sound.

I've been wondering if you were affected. What a mess! I hope your community will recover- and the firebug is caught.
Sorry to read this, hope everyone remains safe.
Atm, I was worried about you....glad to know that you and yours are safe.
I'm soooo glad to know that everybody's safe. I experienced something similar years ago as we lived in the south of France, in the Provence. The canadairs flew over our house and we could smell the fire also it was kilometers away. We packed everything in the livingroom, ready to flee. God bless you!
Hope you're all safe and well. The idiots that do this need locking up and the key throwing away.
