Extreme Makeover, Attila Edition----Kitchen's Finally Done!

Well that's what it feels like after almost two weeks of eating mostly junk food! No stove, and our fridge was in the living room. Everything we ate was cold, microwaved or brought in from a delivery box.

Since it's been freezing up here in the mountains, cold Special K for dinner was just not cutting it.

But tonight I'm going to be able to cook a real meal on my real stove. Tuna Helper, here we come!

Just kidding.

Here are the before pics:

Why would we tear up a perfectly good hardwood floor? Well, first of all, if you look closely, each of the wood slats have 1/8 inch to 3/16 inch grooves between them. Which make them a nightmare to clean.

Every time someone spills oatmeal, or rice, or sugar or--gak--jelly, it falls into these grooves and has to be pried out with a knife. You can't sweep this floor----everything falls in there. You have to actually vacuum with the hand tools to do a good job.

Here is the counter space where I keep all my small appliances. If I keep them under the counter, they're not accessible. But I get tired of having everything lined up there---it looks untidy. Plus they get dirty, even if they're just sitting there.

Here are the after pics:

Garage doors! Perfect for hiding stuff.

And the new marble floor. Isn't it beeyootiful?

Go over and see Carmachu's gorgeous bathroom remodel! This is all his fault, you know...he's created a monster!

My husband would like to thank him in person.

Fabulous, beautiful floor. Love it.
Also love the "garage door" thing.
I could do with something like that (floor to ceiling) in just about every room in this house. Might decrease the room size but all the junk would be hidden!

That looks fantastic!

Makes me all the more impatient for my new kitchen - I'm getting new cabinets, new appliances, new floor, eveything.... and I'm so excited!

I also like your bathroom :)

I've had a crappy couple of weeks diet wise, too but I don't have a decent reason like you do.

Hi Attila,
Whoa! Your new marble kitchen floor is beautiful! It’ll be a lot more practical to take care of, besides being gorgeous! Your “garage door” screens are a terrific idea. How much space is there between the wall and the pull down? Happy cooking!!

Nice job. But maybe I should remodel my kitchen so I have a good excuse to eat nothing but junk food for a while. Mmmmm ... junk food.

Result! Whenever I do makeovers, the room ends up looking worse than it did before. No such problems in your manor ...
