A Mother's Work is Never Done...

Since I've decided to take a couple of classes this summer semester sans Big Kid (who may be going to spend a couple of months with his biological dad), the guys decided it was time to retire The Bunny Slippers of Doom, and got me a scarier pair.

Just in case I have to deal with the Cranky Admissions Lady again.

She better be afraid. Very afraid.

Now I'm REALLY going to be a badass!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you other Badasses!

Does anybody know why we choose to honour mothers on a different day in America and Britain?

100 Words, I think Hallmork picked the date here in the US. Maybe some President's mothers birthday was on the second sunday and so he consulted with Hallmark and determined when optimum flower and card giving time occurred, like right before mid-month payday.

I never saw your other bunny slippers but those ROCK!!

According to the Wikipedia article about Mother's Day in the United States:

The first known observance of Mother's Day in the U.S. occurred in Albion, Michigan, on May 13, 1877, the second Sunday of the month. According to local legend, Albion pioneer, Juliet Calhoun Blakeley, stepped up to complete the sermon of the Rev. Myron Daughterty, who was distraught because an anti-temperance group had forced his son and two other temperance advocates to spend the night in a saloon and become publicly drunk. In the pulpit, Blakeley called on other mothers to join her. Blakeley's two sons, both travelling salesmen, were so moved that they vowed to return each year to pay tribute to her and embarked on a campaign to urge their business contacts to do likewise. At their urging, in the early 1880s, the Methodist Episcopal Church in Albion set aside the second Sunday in May to recognize the special contributions of mothers.

Apparently it must have been a perilous life, being a temperance advocate... or perhaps the reverend's son was just good at thinking of creative excuses when his dad caught him drunk?

Ah, the vicious bunny with the "sharp, pointy teeth". My best friend, who is a Monty Python nut, has these. We love them.

Wow... Those are nasty slippers... Just nasty....
Happy Belated Mother's day to you Attila...
and I would not wear them down to the admissions... as they may have a no rodent with fangs policy... or someother new fangled policy of the day....and then you are back at square one with your two companions on your feet..
