Day 54

Sorry I haven't had much time to post, but between Christmas stuff, Big Kid stuff and everyday stuff, there's only so many hours! Slowly but surely, I'm getting around to visiting all of you kind people who've kept up with us.

Big Kid is having his ups and downs. We haven't been able to lower his oxygen any because in 20 minutes or so, his saturation level drops to the low 80s.

He's working hard on his PT and OT exercises. Both therapists are pleased with his progress. I suggested they incorporate loading the dishwasher in the exercises, because bending up and down is good for him, right?

Yesterday we had a bit of a scare because when he woke up, he was coughing up some blood. Blood of any kind is worrying, because he's taking fairly high doses of cumadon (sp). If it was coming from his lungs, that's even more of a crisis. So we had to run around and find out where it was coming from. Apparently he had a bloody nose while he was sleeping, and instead of coming out his nostrils, it went down the other way.

Gross, but whew!

Kitty stayed the weekend and helped keep Big Kid occupied, which was a blessing. When he's bored he makes everyone miserable, even though he is trying hard not to. He gets so anxious that I can't even use the bathroom without having him knocking on the door asking me if I'm going to be long. ::sigh::

She's coming again this afternoon so hopefully I'll be able to run out and get some errands done that I haven't been getting around to. Like buying Xmas cards. ;-)

Later Gators!

I can't even imagine how busy you are! But I'd bet that being busy this way is much better than being busy worrying in a hospital.

I hope your family enjoys your Christmas celebrations since you have so much to celebrate this year. You have all your babies home! What more can a mother ask for?

Merry Christmas!

No apologies!
You've got your priorities straight. Keep stress to a minimum...if and whenever possible. ;)

I can't even imagine how busy you are. I hope you can find a little time for you. A little time to relax and unwind so you don't get run down.

I am glad that your boy is home with you.

Hope your family has a very Merry Christmas.

Kind of sounds like my house with a 2 year old. I can't ever go to the bathroom without hearing "mamma come out". But I wouldn't trade it for the world and I am sure you wouldn't either.

Again, so happy for you and your family.

Happy Holidays!

Sheesh I hope you get time to do your christmas shopping sometime too.. no one is going to be happy with just a card!

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet. I hope big kid gets a chance to kick the oxygen soon. Thinking of you all.

Always good to hear from you, but don't worry, we all know you've got your hands full. Glad to hear things are progressing nicely.

Still, things are sounding much better. So glad to hear it.

The good news is that now you can at least keep up with everything in your own home instead of running back and forth from the hospital. It's good to get an update that has some good news in it, even though it sounds like you have your hands full.

Happy to read that despite the bloody incident, BK is doing good. Did you ever think you'd write something like "Kitty stayed the weekend ... which was a blessing.", I never thought you would... wow.

Try to relax a little, and like I keep telling my husband, "don't forget to breathe!" xox

well mah goodness, it's about time. Surely NOTHING is more important than keeping a bunch of people you don't really know updated on someone they don't really know...sort of.

Take your time, do what's important, the rest of us will wait.

enjoy having BK home, even if he does bang on the bathroom door! At least he *can*, right?

Even off meds and medical crisis, coughing up blood is kind of scary. I had the same happen. But yeah, glad it wasn't anything too serious.

As for the rest, my thoughts are with your family, praying that you'll have an awesome holiday and that Big Kid gets better soon.

Yeah for Kitty babysitting!
I think his PT should totally include the dishwasher. And perhaps signing cards and folding laundry.

You know, I keep coming back and re-reading the last few posts...the sheer JOY of it all makes me want to cheer! I am so FLAMIN' HAPPY for all of you!

I'm with you on that one, blood anyway - not good. Glad to hear that there are other supportive people around. I think you'll be forgiven for skipping the Christmas cards this year - then again, sometimes doing something mundane and ordinary can be kind of therapeutic.
Best wishes and Happy Holidays

Hey Attila, I'm just back in town and catching up after nearly a week. The best thing I read between the lines here is that Big Kid is UP and knocking on the bathroom door. I know you could live without that, but Big Kid being UP and around is music to my ears.

Hang in there. I'm cheering you on!

I've been rotten at following your story, but just caught up! So glad Big Kid is home!

Merry Christmas!

Hey there, Attila. I wholeheartedly support your efforts to teach Big Kid how to load the dishwasher. I am trying my best to get Max to learn how to whip up a goat cheese omelette and serve it to me in bed.

Hope your holidays have been fun, relaxing and blood-free.

Whoa. You really need to cut down on all the fun you are having.

*snort*

Seriously, you've been in the midst of it for way too long. I hope things start getting better....WAY better and SOON.

Hi ATM- I'm so glad for you and BK to have made it to this point. Baby steps, but you're doing great!

The medication is called coumadin.

Happy holidays!
